Abstract

393,520. Valve amplifying circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Dec. 29, 1932, No. 36781. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1931. [Class 40 (v).] To compensate for distortion due either to curvature of the valve characteristic, or to variations in the external impedances, in a voltage amplifier coupled to a power amplifier, an out-of-phase voltage is tapped off from one point on the anode impedance and is fed back to the grid, whilst at the same time a suitable grid-bias is derived from a second point on the anode impedance. As shown in Fig. 1, one end of the input transformer, instead of being connected to the cathode as usual, is split and tapped in two places to the output impedance. The tapping through the condenser C feeds back a compensating A.C. voltage, whilst that through the impedance Z provides a D.C. gridbiasing voltage. The two tappings may, as shown in Fig. 2, be taken to separate output impedances arranged in parallel.
