Abstract
481,948. Cathode-ray tubes. KESSLER, J. Sept. 21, 1936, No. 25650. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube comprises a block 19 of insulated metallic conductors on the ends 21 of which an invisible image is projected and the other ends of which 22 are scanned by an electron beam to produce a visible image on a fluorescent screen 25. The ends 22 may lie on a spherical surface and the conductors may consist of aluminium or copper. Fluorescent material such as willemite may be deposited on the end of the bulb and a positive potential may be applied thereto through a ring 26, or it may be deposited upon a plate maintained at a positive potential. The invisible image is projected through a quartz lens 28 and the visible image may be viewed directly or with the aid of a mirror arranged within the tube and a lens formed in the tube wall. The electron beam is arranged so that it does not fall on more than one end at any instant. A filling of argon at a few mms. may be provided.
