Abstract

481,883. Lid &c. fastenings. BODIN & CO., Ltd., W. H., and WHITEHOUSE, W. T. Sept. 18, 1936, No. 25387. [Class 44] A fastening for doors, lids, &c. comprises a member 3b pivoted at 10 to a bracket 4 and provided with an internal thread to receive the screwed end of a handle member 3. Member 3 has an aperture 7 in which is pivotally mounted a loop 5 adapted to be engaged over a hook-like member 6 secured to the lid &c. 2, member 3 being then moved towards the bracket to tighten the lid &c. on its seat by toggle action. The loop 5 passes over the deadcentre to retain the parts in fastening position and a screw stop 11 limits inward movement of member 3b. The screw-connection between members 3, 3b allows adjustment to compensate for wear &c. and a lock-nut 9 is provided. In a modification members 3, 3b are integral and a series of apertures 7 is provided to allow adjustment by mounting loop 5 in any selected aperture.
