Abstract
353,112. Oven door &c. fastenings. CREDENDA CONDUITS CO., Ltd. and DAVIS, P. W., Rood End Road, Oldbury, Birmingham. May 3, 1930, No. 13649. [Class 44.] In a fastening particularly for oven doors &c. a tongue g rigidly secured on an operating spindle c mounted in a boss a on the door b is biased by a torsion spring i the ends of which are respectively anchored in the boss and tongue. Spring i is entirely enclosed, being housed in a recess in the boss which is covered by the tongue. When the door is closed the tongue rides over an inclined face h<1> of a hook h on the fixed door frame and snaps into engagement behind member h. The face of tongue g which co-operates with the rear face of member h may be bevelled to take up wear and give a tight closure. The operating knob e is secured on a square portion d of the spindle by means of a distance ring secured by set screw in the required position to allow free rotation of the spindle in boss a, the knob being clamped against the ring by an axial screw f. A lever handle may be used instead of a knob.
