Abstract

474,114. Hinges. FRANCIS, J. R E. Nov. 23, 1936, No. 32002. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] The hinged lid 5 of a drum or like receptacle disposed over the upstanding neck 4 and seating with or without a gasket 11 intervening upon the neck, as shown, or upon the recessed end 2, is provided with means for maintaining it closed. The lid is hinged by a pin 8 to a doubled strap 9 riveted to the drum at 10, the attachment including the end of a blade spring 12 which passes slidably through an opening in the lid flange and through registering openings formed in a recessed portion 13. At the side opposite to the hinge the lid is provided with a lug 14<a> adapted to be secured fast to the end by a thumb-screw 16. Alternatively the spring 12 may engage the exterior of the lid.
