481,762. Pistons; stuffing - boxes. SOC. D'INVENTIONS AERONAUTIQUES ET MECANIQUES S. I. A. M. Nov. 3, 1936, No. 29924. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1935. [Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v)] A packing for pistons or piston-rods &c. comprises two rubber &c. elastic rings 4, 10 of less size than the containing groove whereby they are subjected to axial pressure, the ring 4 being pressed radially by the ring 10 which may be of softer material. In the case of a stuffing- box packing, Fig. 3, or of the packing on the non-pressure side of a single acting piston, the rings 4,-10 may be pressed axially by a spring 12, Fig. 3, or 9, Fig. 2. The packing may be applied to piston rods of square, channelled or other form.
