Packing, metallic; cup-leather packing.- Piston &c. packing comprises a single or two rings a<1>, b<1> of L-section, with tapered flanges adapted to be spread by fluid pressure and by pressure applied to rubber &c. rings d, d<1> by means of a screwed junk ring e. Preferably the radial flanges of the rings are inclined to leave a space f between them before compression. Specifications 9640/90, 1094/97, and 194,269 are referred to.
