258,198. Synthetic Ammonia & Nitrates, Ltd., and Burstall, A. F. April 29, 1926. Pistons; packing.-A valve-actuating piston 3 operated by oil pressure is provided with packing rings 9, 10 arranged back to back, the space between them being connected through radial and axial passages to a zone of low pressure. The axial leakage discharge passage communicates with atmosphere through a small bore tube 6 screwed to the piston and adapted to slide through a stuffing box 7.
