Abstract
412,027. Lubricating valves. MOREHEAD, F. H., Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, MARTIN, J. C., Roosevelt Building, Los Angeles, and WALWORTH PATENTS, Inc., 28, Albany Street, Boston, all in U.S.A. May 8, 1933, No. 13373. [Class 12 (ii).] In a plug valve sinuous grooves 17, 20, connected by longitudinal grooves 19, are provided on the plug 11 or casing 5 at the large and small ends of the plug, the grooves 17, 20 being interrupted at 18, 20<a> in staggered relationship. Lubricant is forced to the grooves by rotation of a bolt 88 in a tubular reservoir 80, the lubricant passing through a non-return valve 86 and an axial passage 16 in the plug to the grooves. The plug is held to its seat and is packed against leakage by packing 25 accommodated between an enlargement 15 on the plug and a cover 22 and pressed by a gland 30.
