Abstract

481,759. Electric heating. DENNEEN, F. S., and DUNN, W. C. Oct. 29, 1936, No. 29387. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1935. [Class 39 (iii)] The interior surface of a hollow article 175 is heated by an annular inductor 177 arranged therein and provided with a hollow magnetic core 188 with end parts 189, 190 providing a flux path from the interior of the inductor to the article. The inductor is perforated and hollow and is connected at 186 to a quenching fluid supply. After delivery to the heated surface the quenching fluid passes through passages 193 in the core to the interior thereof. The core and end parts are made of wedge-shaped laminations and may be supplied with a cooling medium during the heating of the article.
