[Class 110 (iii)] In a multi-stage turbine, means are provided for ensuring uniformity of the pressure drop. Parallel with the flow through the turbine 1 a secondary flow is arranged between the admission 3 and the exhaust 5 by way of a chamber 2 having perforated diaphragms 6, 7. The space 9 between the diaphragms is connected to a differential pressure gauge 14 which is also connected to an intermediate stage 4 of the turbine. Disturbances in the flow in the turbine, which may be caused, for instance, by the formation of deposits on the blades, will be indicated on the gauge 14, and corrective measures can be taken. The gauge apparatus 14 may influence the admission valve and may actuate an audible or visible alarm. Several chambers 9 may be provided. The chamber 2 may be flushed by valves 15, 16.
