Abstract
428,355. Turbine plant. KRUPP GERMANIAWERFT AKT.-GES., F., Gaarden, Kiel, Germany. Jan. 1, 1935, No. 59. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1934. Addition to 412,147. [Class 110 (iii)] In a turbine plant according to the parent Specification in which the H.P. turbine is divided into two parts 9, 10, which may be traversed in series or in parallel, and which work with the same total heat-drop, the last stage of part 10, which lies behind the part 9 in the steam path at low speeds, is made to operate with a smaller heat-drop than the corresponding stage of the part 9. Several arrangements are described. The steam from a central chest 7 may be passed first through a Curtis wheel a and then divided for use in parallel in the parts 9, 10, the exhausts 11, 12 of which lead to a low pressure turbine. At cruising speeds the valves 21, 27 are closed, and a valve 20 is opened to pass the exhaust of the part 9 to the part 10. The valve 20 may be two-way, controlling the flow to different stages of the part 10. The H.P. turbine with variable flow may be arranged on two shafts.
