634,006. Gas turbine plant. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. March 1, 1948, No. 6432. Convention date, March 1, 1947. [Class 110(iii)] In a gas or air turbine plant in which the working fluid is contained in a closed circuit, a low-pressure compressor 8 is normally inoperative being isolated by means of valves 10, 15. For overloads, the valve 10 is opened and the valve 15 shut to bring the compressor 8 into the closed circuit. This lowers the exhaust pressure of the turbine 4 and, consequently, increases the highest pressure in the circuit. To avoid this increase, working fluid may be withdrawn at 7 and the withdrawal may be automatically controlled. In, a plant comprising high and low-pressure turbine-compressor assemblies on separate shafts, the extra low-pressure compressor is put into the circuit in front of the normal low-pressure compressor. Interstage cooling and re-heating are provided.
