Abstract

Aluminium-calcium alloys containing up to 50 per cent of calcium are made by the reaction of a mixture of aluminium in ingot form and briquettes composed of burnt lime and aluminium granules, preferably in such proportions as to yield a calcium aluminate slag having the lowest melting point, and containing lime and alumina in approximately equal proportions.
