Abstract
In making silicon steel by methods in which ferro-silicon is added to molten iron, a deoxidized product is obtained by the use of a ferro-silicon containing sufficient calcium, for example 0,5-3 per cent, to combine with the silica in the molten steel to form calcium silicate. The ferro-silicon containing calcium may be made by adding lime to the silica normally used in making the ferro-silicon.
