Abstract

Alloy steel for structural purposes contains up to 0,3 per cent of carbon, up to 0,69 per cent of chromium, 0,2-0,45 per cent of copper, 0,4-1 per cent of manganese, 0,05-0,3 per cent of silicon, and 0,1-0,5 per cent of nickel, the sum of the nickel and silicon contents exceeding the copper content. The alloy steel is made by the addition to mild steel of the necessary quantities of nickel, silicon, chromium, and copper.
