Abstract

Aluminium alloys for pistons, cylinders, and other parts of internal-combustion engines, and for other purposes contain 1-10 per cent of manganese, 0,5-7 per cent of nickel, 0,2-3 per cent of copper, and 0,2-2 per cent of magnesium, with or without one or more of the following: 0,1-3 per cent of iron, 0,1-7 per cent of cobalt, 0,5-3 per cent of chromium, 0,05-3 per cent of vanadium, 0,01-1 per cent of niobium, 0,01 per cent of titanium, and 0,2-2 per cent of silicon. According to the Provisional Specification, the presence of copper and magnesium is optional, and iron is essential.
