Abstract

Alloys for internal-combustion engine pistons consist of aluminium with 2-6 per cent of nickel, 5-8 per cent of copper, and 5-8 per cent of silicon, with or without a total of 0,01-1 per cent of one or more of the metals titanium, molybdenum, manganese, chromium, tungsten, and iron. An example contains 4 per cent of nickel, 7 per cent of copper, and 7 per cent of silicon.
