Abstract
Liners such as those for internal-combustion engine cylinders are centrifugally cast from cast iron alloys containing essentially phosphorus and vanadium. The alloys may contain up to 3,7 per cent of carbon, up to 2,6 per cent of silicon, 0,75-1,4 per cent of phosphorus, up to 1,7 per cent of manganese, and 0,1-0,5 per cent of vanadium, with or without up to 2 per cent of nickel, up to 0,5 per cent of chromium, and up to 0,5 per cent of molybdenum. Pig iron containing vanadium may be used in making the alloy.
