Abstract
331,190. Neumark, M. March 22, 1929. Purifying and refining.-A pig iron with the properties ofcharcoal iron is produced by melting down in a coke blast furnace scrap, alone or in admixture with ore, and a flux mixture so proportioned as to produce a highly lime-basic slag rich in alumina. The alumina content of the slag should be at least 30 per cent and the silicic acid content below 10 per cent. The alumina content of the slag is produced by adding bauxite to the flux.
