548,987. Preparation of burnt dolomite. SOC. ANON. POUR L'INDUSTRIE DE L'ALUMINIUM. Aug. 21, 1941, No. 10683. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1940. [Class 1 (iii)] A burnt dolomite which absorbs carbon dioxide from the air only very slowly for use, e.g. in the thermal production of magnesium is produced by pulverizing dolomite and raising it to the burning temperature, e.g. 900‹-1000‹C. in the presence of a fluoride, preferably of a metal of the group consisting of calcium, strontium, barium, magnesium, aluminum and iron. Dolomite that has already been burnt may be used as the initial material. Specifications 450,064, [Group XI], 500,323 and 510,196, [both in Group II], are referred to.
