Abstract

479,191. Liquid-fuel burners. BOLT, F. L., and WALLSEND SLIPWAY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 16, 1937, No. 28211. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid-fuel burner comprises a tubular body 1 fitted with a nozzle 7 at its forward end and provided with an air inlet 5, and a fuel injector tube 2 screwed into a tubular member 8 which is removably secured in a recess 12 at the rear of the body 1 by the pressure of the fuel supply nipple 13 against a seating 15. The nipple 13 is carried by an adjustable thrust sleeve 17 threaded in a lateral boss 18 on the body 1. The fuel control spindle 3 may extend the length of the tube 2 and be formed with a valve element 4 at its forward end or may be formed with a valve element co-operating with a seating at the rear end of the tube and have a helical extension for whirling the fuel. A guide member 19 in the inlet 5 may be adjusted angularly to vary the whirling motion imparted to the air.
