437,818. Liquid-fuel burners. WALLSEND SLIPWAY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Wallsend-on-Tyne, HENDERSON, H. E., and MORTON, J. A., 35, The Temple, Dale Street, Liverpool. May 10, 1934, No. 14105. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid-fuel burner comprises a tubular burner body A, a barrel B externally and internally coned at its forward end and formed at its rear end with a flange H and a threaded neck G received in a recess J and a threaded bore in the burner body A, a solid valve spindle C screwing in a threaded bore in the burner body A and having a coned forward end P projecting beyond and coacting with the forward end of the barrel B, and an adjustable extension A<1> threaded on the burner body A and formed with an aperture T surrounding the forward end of the barrel B. An oil passage E opens into an annular space O formed between the threaded bores in the burner body B and an air inlet F opens in front of the recess J. The valve spindle C may fit closely the bore of the barrel B and be formed with straight or helical fuel passages D or it may be of considerably less diameter than the bore of the barrel, helical vanes being then provided in the annular space W between the barrel and the burner body for imparting a whirling motion to the air.
