Abstract
478,651. Fountain pens. MENTMORE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and JOHNSON, W. F. July 21, 1936, No. 20164. [Class 146 (iii)] The feed-bar of a fountain pen is provided with a feed-channel 1 extending beneath the nib but not to the inner end of the bar, and a second channel 5 extending from the inner end where it communicates with the reservoir but not to the outer end, the two channels being connected by a cross channel 8 adapted to be closed by an obturating-device such as a pin 10 when the nib-covering cap is applied. The pin 10, which may be formed of non- corrodible material such as stainless steel, is attached to the cap and is adapted to enter an axial bore 9 formed centrally in the feed-bar and extending to and preferably beyond. the channel 8. The channel 8 preferably slopes upwardly towards the nib. The pin 10 and bore 9 may be tapered.
