472,999. Pistons; stuffing boxes. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. April 3, 1936, No. 9936. Convention date, April 8, 1935. [Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v)] In a reciprocating steam engine labyrinth packing is provided between the piston and cylinder and between the piston rod and stuffing-box. Grooves 13, 14 may be formed in removable sleeves 12, 11, in the piston and cylinder. Alternatively the grooves may be provided by coaxial washers. The grooves on the cylinder wall may be dispensed with.
