Abstract
470,119. Ships' hatches. BROUGHTON, W., and LEE, C. F. April 1, 1936, No. 9592. [Class 113 (i)] In hatches in which the hatch sections 10 are slid into and out of position between the hatch coaming channel sections mounted on opposite sides of the hatch section, the end locking- section 33 is inserted beneath the edges of the cut-away flange of the channel member and is then slightly retracted so that the edge of lug 19 on the coaming takes over the edge of a recess 31 cut in the hatch section. Simultaneously the arms 25 of a U-bolt working in bushes 26 mounted in the section engage with holes 30 cut in the lease of the lower flange of the channel-section. The section is then locked against movement.in its own plane as well as against lifting movement relatively to the hatch opening. Specification 436,506 is referred to.
