Abstract

467,703. Thermionic valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN MEAF. June 17, 1936, No. 16908. Convention date, June 20, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] An ultra-high frequency electron valve with a hollow space resonator closed on all sides by conducting surfaces and communicating with the outer space only through apertures arranged to supply or remove highfrequency energy or to admit leads to the electrodes, is provided with a second hollow space bounded on all sides by metallic surfaces connected to that part of the resonator through which the supply leads extend, and having outlet apertures permitting the leads to extend through it, the second hollow chamber being detuned with respect to the natural frequency of the resonator so as to prevent the escape o f high frequency energy along the leads. In the form shown the resonator is bounded by an outer conductor 1 and an inner conductor 2 formed in the centre as a grid. A reflecting electrode 10 is supported on insulators 11 within the resonator. Leads to electrode 10 and to a cathode 9 extend through the end wall 3 and cross a second hollow space bounded by an extension 14 of the conductor 1 and end plate 15 which is provided with outlet apertures 16 for the leads. The length of the chamber is one quarter wave-length or an odd multiple thereof. The end plate 15 is of material sealing readily to glass, and the wall 3 is of material. of good thermal conductivity to promote cooling of conductor 2. The oscillatory energy may be generated in brake-field connection and is conducted through the energy channel 4, 5 to the aerial 6. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the subject-matter of Specification 16909/36 and refers to Specification 452,490. This subject - matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
