Abstract
464,891. Fluid - pressure servomotors. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG - UND - MOTORENWERKE AKT. - GES. Aug. 19, 1936, No. 22835. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1935. [Class 135] For a fluid-pressure servomotor comprising a power member such as the oscillating vane 6, Figs. 1, 2, in contact with a control member 3 over a cylindrical surface containing spiral control passages 30, 31, 30a, the control member 3 is moved in the direction of movement of the power member by one regulator 53 and in a direction transverse to the movement of the power member by another independent regulator 1. The apparatus may be used to regulate the fuel supply to an internal-combustion engine according to changes in engine speed and air density. The vane 6 is arranged in a housing 11 which it divides into two chambers 13, 13a and is unitary with a hollow shaft 5 containing the control valve 3 and two transmission members 41, 51. The shaft 5 operates the member to be adjusted through gearing 47, 48. A coupling 40 allows the valve 3 to rotate relatively to the member 41 whilst undergoing the same longitudinal movement. The member 41 is connected to a diaphragm regulator I and is held against rotation by a flat extension projecting through a slotted plate 42. The other transmission member 51 is non-rotatably connected to the valve by a tongue and slot arrangement 50, 55 and is held against axial movement by the hub of a hand or other regulating arm 53. The passages 30, 30a in the valve 3 are open at one end and communicate continuously with a pressure medium supply pipe 22 whilst the central passage is open only at the opposite end and communicates continuously with an exhaust pipe 15. The chambers 13, 13a communicate with the control passages by radial ducts 35, 36 respectively, these being blanked off as the vane follows up the movement of the control valve, Fig. 6 shows a modification having the power member formed as a piston 61 movable in a cylinder 62. A control valve 71 capable of rotational movement under the control of a regulating arm 78 splined thereon and also of axial movement under the control of a regulator connected thereto by a link 82 is mounted axially in a hollow piston rod 60 connected at its end 67 to the member to be operated. Spiral passages 97, 98, 97a similar to the passages 30, 31, 30a are formed in the piston rod and coact with radial passages 95, 96 in the valve 71 continuously in communication with exhaust and supply pipes 99, 100, respectively. Channels 91 ... 94 connect the passages 97, 98, 97a with the chambers 113, 113a on opposite sides of the piston 61.
