Abstract
737,678. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. KEELAVITE CO., Ltd. Nov. 9, 1953 [Nov. 19, 1952; June 22, 1953], Nos. 29271/52 and 17277/53. Class 135. A hydraulic servomotor-control system comprises a main piston valve member A slidable in a casing B to control an inlet port B<SP>1</SP>, exhaust ports B<SP>2</SP>, and motor ports B<SP>3</SP>, B<SP>4</SP> and having recesses D<SP>1</SP> at its ends co-operable with pressure balancing valves F controlling the flow of pressure liquid from inlet passages E to outlet passages E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> leading to an exhaust port G<SP>4</SP> through a subsidiary valve H. The valve H comprises a plunger H<SP>1</SP> resiliently held between bellows H<SP>3</SP>, H<SP>7</SP> and operable by a lever H<SP>4</SP>. A continuously rotating valve J having an opening J<SP>1</SP> to exhaust is disposed between the passages E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> so that the pressure in these passages and chambers B<SP>5</SP>, B<SP>6</SP> in the casing B is continuously changing to maintain the valve A in a state of vibration to improve its sensitivity. On movement, e.g. of the valve H to the left, the effective areas of the passages E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> are increased and decreased respectively so that pressure in the chamber B<SP>6</SP> builds up to move the valve A rightwardly to supply pressure liquid to the right-hand end of the motor C and exhaust it from its left-hand end. During the right-ward movement of the valve A the lefthand valve F reduces the opening to the chamber B<SP>6</SP> and the right-hand valve F increases the opening to the chamber B<SP>5</SP> to restore the pressure balance acting on the valve A. In a practical example, the pressure liquid passing through the balancing valves F and the subsidiary valve H is derived from the same source as that supplied to the motor C in which case axial and radial passages in the valve member A connect the inlet port B<SP>1</SP> with the recesses D<SP>1</SP>. The valve J is continuously rotated by a hydraulic gear motor which motor also rotates the valve H to improve the sensitivity of the apparatus, and an adjustable needle valve is located in the exhaust outlet G<SP>4</SP> to control the sensitivity of the valve member A. In a modification, pressure liquid enters the port G4, passes into the pressure balancing chambers B<SP>5</SP>, B<SP>6</SP> through the passages E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> and out therefrom through the passages E, in which case the valves F are tapered to open instead of close on movement of the valve A away from the adjacent end of the casing B.
