Abstract
458,237. Mixing - machines. SAMM, G., 3, Vorhallerstrasse, Hagen-Vorhalle, Westphalia, Germany. June 22, 1936, No. 17302. [Class 86] Apparatus for mixing moulding sand comprises a casing containing a high speed rotary drum on to which the sand falls and which is provided with end flanges between which are arranged radial blades which are staggered and may be normal to the flanges or inclined thereto and work in conjunction with an adjustable fixed flap. The drum d, Fig. 1, mounted on ball bearings, lies in a casing c into which the sand is fed from a hopper l. The blades i, fitted with renewable facings k, are alternately arranged as shown in Fig. 3, and the flap m, of parabolic section, is spring urged against an adjustable stop p, q. A further adjustable flap t is arranged behind.the flap m. A removable wedge-shaped bar v separates the sand ejected by the blades into two heaps. The blades may be arranged as shown in Fig. 7 and the faces may be concave or convex.
