Abstract

647,071. Husking grain. NOVOTNY, T. Dec. 22, 1947, No. 33809. Convention date, Dec. 10. 1946. [Class 58] The friction members 7, 17 on the rotor 6 of a machine for stripping grain of its husks in the damp condition, in which the grain is positively fed via 'inlet 12 under high pressure by the screw 13 into the working space between a stationary casing 3 and the rotor 6 and driven through narrowing passages a between the members, are of open pocket or ladle-shape and have end flanges 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> or 17<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>11</SP> respectively running obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the rotor and with respect to the bases of the members. The open ladle-shaped members may have a passage d at their apex (Fig. 7). Brushes 8 and friction ledges 11, both adjustable in depth, form additional friction members on the casing 3 and cooperate with the friction members of the rotor.
