Abstract
418,024. Mills and apparatus. LONG, T. A., 32, Handsworth Road, Handsworth, and POTTS, W. W., 13, Endcliffe Avenue, both in Sheffield. June 24, 1933, No. 18041. [Class 59.] A mill for reducing coke &c. comprises two co-axial rotors, one or both of which are dished and contain loose balls, the two rotors being driven in different senses or in the same sense at different speeds. As shown, the discs 4, 5 are enclosed in a casing 30 and are lined and may be corrugated internally at 6, Fig. 2, to agitate balls 3. Material may be fed between the discs through a hollow shaft 24 or where a fixed spacing member 8 is employed the feed may be inserted through an opening 32, Fig. 2, and the ground material discharged through an opening 31. One disc may move axially against the compression of a spring 13, a collar 16 limiting the gap between the discs. A screwed spindle 20 engages with lost motion a collar 17 on the rotor spindle of the disc 4 so that the discs may be separated to remove the balls.
