[Class 59] A disc mill comprises a revoluble disc 53 and stationary disc 46 provided with intercalating pegs 56 of truncated pyramidal form, the clearance between the ends of the pegs and the opposing disc decreasing from the centre toward the periphery and the discs being concave with flat peripheral surfaces 48. The driving shaft 28 is mounted in ball bearings and is adjustable to vary the clearance between the discs by a screwed sleeve 17 carrying the bearing 18, the clearance being indicated by a pointer 22 and a scale on the capstan head 19. The sleeve is locked by a screw 26 and the 'set' position maintained by screws 23 passing through the capstan head and bearing on the pedestal 14. The casing 33 is water jacketted and is bolted to an annular ring on the frame. The cover 38 is hinged and an inwardly projecting ring 58 diverts the material discharged at the periphery of the discs towards the water jacket 35. Gaps are made in the ring 58 for the insertion of a feeler gauge to ascertain the clearance between the discs. This clearance may also be adjusted angularly by screw bolts 62 passing through the cover and bearing on the disc 46. Material is fed to the centre of the discs through hopper 45 and is discharged through outlet 37.
