Abstract

962,606. Edge-runner mills. GEBR PFEIFFER BARBAROSSAWERKE A.G. July 18, 1962 [July 19, 1961; June 29, 1962], No. 27529/62. Heading B2A. A mill comprises a grinding ring rotatable about a vertical axis and coacting with stationary or rotatable rollers 1 in a housing 3 which is in the form of a polygonal prism symmetrical about the vertical axis and has a sifting device 10 mounted on it. The angular corners 5 of the housing are fitted with wear plates 15 for the guide members 16 of a pressure ring 14 arranged to bear on the rollers 1 for urging the latter against the grinding ring which is rotated by a motor 12. As shown, the housing is of hexagonal cross-section and provides flat faces 4 for door openings 6. The ground material which is carried upwardly by an air stream to the motor-driven sifter 10 tends to have the oversize particles separated out at the corners 5 by the housing and returns from there for regrinding.
