Abstract

1,062,209. Grinding apparatus. W. SIMON. Oct. 13, 1965, No. 43452/65. Heading B2A. Grinding apparatus comprises a rotor 1, Fig. 1, provided with annular shelves 4 to the upper and lower sides of which are detachably secured interchangeable U-shaped metal tools 5 with partition discs 2 provided between two adjacent shelves. The rotor is arranged for rotation in a ridged casing (9, Fig. 3), the discs 2 dividing the casing into partitions. Orifices (8, Fig. 2) are provided in the U-shaped tools adjacent their working edges (7). The air gap between the tools and casing is adjusted by rotation of a counter ring (11) which contacts a threaded flange (10) on the casing (9) so that the casing may be raised or lowered axially relative to the rotor. Grinding takes place in the gap as a result of a head of pressure between the external edges (7) and the ridges of the casing and also due to air flow through the orifices.
