515,578. Mincing-machines. FITZPATRICK, H. J. (Berkel, W. A. van). June 7, 1938, No. 16857. [Class 28(ii)] A mincing-machine of the kind comprising a worm rotatable in a casing, and a cutter at the outlet of the casing, is characterized in that the worm has an enlarged steeply divergent part at the outlet, so that the pressure on the material is relieved adjacent to the outlet. As shown, the worm 4 has a slow divergence, indicated by the line A, from the hopper 3 to an intermediate zone indicated by the line C, and a steep divergence, as indicated by the line B, from the intermediate zone to the outlet. The casing part 2, associated with the enlarged part of the worm, is screwed on to the main casing 1. The worm may be cylindrical, instead of tapered, at the inlet.
