Abstract

Disk mills.-In a mill with a rotating stone 5 pressed towards a stationary stone 7, a centrifugal blower 14 disposed by the side of the runner 5 serves to cool the runner and to transport the corn from the hopper 17 to the feedworm 8. The hopper 17 is provided at the top with a feed-roller 19 which receives the corn &c. from the funnel 18, the feed being regulated by means of a sliding plate 21. A canal 22 in the casing 1 runs from the lower part of the hopper 17 to the bushing 9, where the worm 8 rotates, and the hopper 17 is connected by means of a hole with that part of the interior of the casing where the blower operates, so that the corn is blown through the canal 22 to the worm 8, and any heavy foreign objects are left behind. The runner 5 is pressed towards the stationary disk 7 by a spring 12, and can be moved away from the disk 7 by means of a hollow screw 10 which forms a bearing for the axle 4. The disks 5, 7 are made of carborundum, and the disk 7 is secured by screw-bolts 15 and adjusted by screw-bolts 16. The flour escapes through an outlet 23 at the bottom of the casing.
