Abstract

[Class 59] In the crushing-mill according to the parent Specification the operative face of one or of each of the discs has a conical formation reducing the angle of inclination between the two faces on the narrower or discharge side of the disc axes and increasing it on the feed side, the operative face of each disc being provided with rigidly attached disintegrating or splitting projections. Both discs may be driven at the same speed. As shown the disc 10 is driven by pulley 27 and the drive is transmitted to the other disc 11 by gear wheels 28, 29, universal joint 32 and gear wheels 37, 38. The gear wheel 37 is wider than the gear 38 to enable the gears to be fully meshed when axial movement of the shaft 20 takes place against the compression of spring 24. One part of the universal joint is adjustable on its shaft by means of splines and is secured thereto by a set-screw. The disc may be a truncated cone. The discs are provided with integral spikes 12.
