23,394. Sturtevant, T. J. Dec. 27, 1910, [Convention date]. Disk and like mills; mills and apparatus.- In a mill in which rock &c. is crushed between rotating disks 20, 22 carried by outer and inner shafts 14, 24 arranged at an inclination to each other, the eccentric bearing 25 for the inner shaft 24 is rotated in the opposite direction to the shafts 14, 24, and preferably at a higher speed, by means independent of the shafts, so as to cause a rapid opening and closing of the disks. The outer end 28 of the sleeve 25 is square or polygonal and connected by a clamp-coupling 30 to the inner end 29 of an independent shaft 26, which is mounted in standards 21 and provided with a driving- pulley 27. The coupling 30 is arranged to break if any uncrushable material gets between the disks.
