Abstract
387,508. Crushing coal, coke, &c. LONG, T. A., 32, Handsworth Road, and POTTS, W. W., 13, Endcliffe Avenue, both in Sheffield. Feb. 5, 1932, No. 3428. [Class 59.] In crushing or fracturing mills in which two discs 10, 11 are rotatably mounted face to face at an angle to one another each having disintegrating or splitting projections 12 on the opposing faces thereof, means are provided for enabling one or both of the discs to move axially and a spring control 20 tends to cause the discs to approach one another, means may also be provided for adjusting the normal working distance between the discs. As shown the disc 10 is mounted on a horizontal shaft 13 and the disc 11 on an inclined shaft 18. One or both shafts may be driven and one or both shafts may move axially against spring pressure. The shaft 18 is provided with a screw collar 23 which is movable on the shaft to vary the distance between the discs and provides a support for a thrust ring 22 against which the spring 20 bears. The pins are set in the discs in concentric rows and the pins in one disc come opposite the space between the rows of the other disc. The material enters through a hopper 28 and is fed to the centre of the discs by a hinged shoot and is carried by downwardly moving pins to the outlet 29.
