Abstract
354,408. Conical grinding or crushing mills. STACEY, F., 76, Cornwall Gardens, South Kensington, London. Feb. 12, 1931, No. 14735/30. [Class 59.] In apparatus for milling wheat &c. comprising inner and outer rings 14, 13, Fig. 2, mounted for relative rotation about a vertical axis, and having one of the serrated grinding surfaces provided with triangular grooves 15, 16, Fig. 3, which progressively increase in width and depth toward one edge of the grinding surface and being arranged in opposite directions and on opposite sides of serrations 19 respectively so that the groove 15 acts as a feed inlet and the groove 16 as a discharge outlet for the material disintegrated by the serrations 19, the trailing walls 21 of the grooves 15 are inclined at a comparatively small angle to the direction of relative rotation of the surfaces. The grinding rings 13, 14 preferably rotate in the same direction, the ring 14 rotating at a faster rate than the ring 13 so that the material entering a groove 15 slides gradually up the surface 21 and is carried by the serrations 12 on the ring 14 across the serrations 19 on the ring 13 and is discharged into a groove 16 for delivery to a receptacle or for further grinding in another series of rings.
