[Class 59] In a machine for preparing moulding sand the sand-mixing blades or plates are each provided on the throwing face with a renewable corner piece or wear shoe so arranged as to participate in the throwing of sand from the plate. As shown in Fig. 1, the sand is fed from a hopper h. to the centre of the impeller discs b, c, from which it is thrown onto a conical ring f and is diverted into a receptacle q. The discs are provided with radial plates e, Fig. 3, fitted with renewable tips n, the plates being recessed to retain sand and prevent wear. The conical impact ring f, Fig. 5, is thickened at 0 to allow erosion at u. This eroded recess afterwards retains the sand and prevents further wear. The receptacle q is provided with a hinged end s and a removable plate r.
