Impact pulverizers. - Material in the form of blocks or grains is crushed by projecting the material from a rotary wheel provided with vanes on to stationary impact plates. The material is fed through a hopper d, on to a revolving disc provided with vanes a, which may be straight or curved and is projected on to impact plates e, Fig. 2, in a normal direction. When disintegrating mixed material the grains having the least resilience will be reduced more completely than the others and can be removed by sifting. The speed of the wheel is varied according to the results desired. The shape of the impact surfaces is the development of a circle of radius R/#2 in which R is the radius of the outer circumference of the wheel.
