[Class 54] In a single diaphragm gas meter having valve reversing mechanism according to Specification 399,135 the stuffing box 12 provided where the spindle 11 operated by the meter diaphragm passes into the chamber containing the valve-reversing mechanism is relieved of the varying load due to the pressure of the spring 7 producing reversal of the valves 6 by providing one snap member 10 on a sleeve 18 which is axially slidable on the spindle 11 and is connected to it by a pin-and-slot connection 20, 19. The lateral pressure imposed by the other snap member 5 arranged on the valve-reversing lever 1 on the snap member 10 is borne by the bearings 16, 17 carrying the spindle 11. The lever 4 to which an end of the spring 7 is attached is connected by a link 15 to an operating arm 14 on the shaft 11. Specification 401,249 also is referred to.
