Lift valves; seats and faces.- A screw-down lift valve for high pressures comprises a removable seating 30 of relatively soft metal in the form of a conical plug inserted liquid tight into the casing from below. The upper end of the plug is formed as a seating, preferably conical, into which the valve member 27 enters. The Figures show the various arrangements described, the seating being secured by a set-screw or ferrule 35 with an anti-friction washer 36 interposed.
