Abstract

436,498. Valve accessories. SHELVOKE & DREWRY, Ltd., and DREWRY, J. S., Icknield Way, Letchworth, Hertfordshire. April 2, 1935, No. 10271. [Class 135] The spindle 5 of a lift valve 1 closed by a spring 6 is embraced outside the valve casing 2 by a flexible diaphragm, cup, or the like, which is secured at its periphery to the valve casing so as to constitute a fluidtight closure to the opening in the valve casing; and the fluid pressure is admitted to the diaphragm &c., for example by a duct 11, so as wholly or partially to balance the pressure acting on the valve 1. In the form shown, the valve spindle is recessed at 7 to engage a rubber cup 8 secured to the outside of the casing 2 by a metal ring 10. In a modification, a flat diaphragm is secured between nuts on the valve spindle 5.
