Closure members, sluice. -In a sluice valve, the casing or the valve member is provided on one face with an annular recess which contains a seating ring forced outwards by fluid pressure. The casing b is provided with an annular recess b<1>, in which a contact ring c is arranged so as to be capable of limited outward movement, the extent of which is determined bv the screws d. Fluid pressure is admitted through the passage g to press the ring outwards. Leakage past the edge of the ring is prevented by a flexible metal ring e or by a ring of L-section. In another form, the ring c is arranged in another ring of channel section, which is secured in a recess in the valve body.
