Abstract

756,213. Valves. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd. March 22, 1955 [April 6, 1954], No. 10015/54. Class 135. [Also in Group XVII] A pressure relief valve for beer or other barrels has a spigot 1 for insertion in the barrel and a flexible sealing disc 14 compressed by a spring 13 between a. seating on a metal disc 10 and a seating on the top of the spigot. If the internal pressure is too great it lifts the resilient pad 14 and escapes past the seating 3. If an internal vacuum is created the pad 14 curves downwardly to permit air to enter the barrel through ports 16 in the metal disc 10 and a hole 17 in the pad 14. The spring 13 is held in position by a cap 8 screwed on to the spigot 1.
