Abstract
453,413. Windows. BATTY, S. L., Low Way, Bramham, Boston Spa, Yorkshire. May 1, 1936, No. 12366. [Class 20 (iii)] The head and transom rails 1, 2 of a casement window overhang the unflanged top rails 5, 9 of the transom window and casement sash, the vertical rails of which are provided with laterally projecting flanges 16 which overlap the front faces of the vertical members or mullions 4 of the fixed frame, while the front faces of the jambs and mullions are set back behind those of the head and transom rails by an amount equal to the thickness of the lateral flanges plus the amount of overhang of the head or transom rails, and the rear faces of the mullions are set forwardly of those of the head or transom rails. Grooves 7, 8 are formed in the undersides of the overhanging portions of the head and transom rails, and the top front and vertical edges of the sashes are bevelled at 6, 10, 16. Steps 14 are formed in the upper surfaces of the transom 2 and sill 3, and the usual weathering grooves 12, 13 are provided in the opposing faces of the sashes and window frames. The casement sash is mounted on hinges 17, having rightangular leaves to conform with the angles of the mullion and sash frame.
