Abstract
439,731. Draught and weather excluders for windows and doors. SHANKS & SONS, Ltd., E. O., and SHANKS, L. C., Lockhurst Lane, Coventry. Feb. 20, 1935, No. 5440. [Class 20 (iii)] A door, casement window, or fanlight has the hinged edge grooved at 19 to engage over a non-resilient strip 18 on the frame the remaining edges of the window being rabbeted as at 22 to coact with strips 23<1> in the frame. The strips are spaced from faces 21 on the frame with which the inner faces of the window engage. The strips may be of metal and the sill strip 23<1> may be shorter than the window width to leave drainage channels. The sill strip may be placed outwardly of the plane in which the remaining strips lie. Grooves 28 may be provided at the inner corner of the rabbeted portions, and grooves 24 may also be provided on the underside of the sill or transom 15. The sill or transom may be stepped, the inner face of the window engaging an inserted metal strip. Clearance is provided between the strips 18, 23 and the adjacent parts of the window &c.
